The Christmas and New Years holiday period at Silver Star will be an exciting mix of regularly scheduled activities, festive events and fantastic skiing and snowboarding.  Expect lots of Christmas decorations and music to fill the beautiful Victorian themed Village and Frosty the Snowman to be wandering the streets handing out candy canes to all the kids.  He has a direct line to Santa Claus so all the kids looking to score some last minute points better be extra nice. 

 

Monday Dec 13
Every Monday Night - Get acquainted with Silver Star Resort and discover all the activities you can enjoy by attending the Taste of Silver Star Welcome Reception. The Reception includes refreshments, sampling of the Okanagan's micro brewed beer and cottage wines from Kelowna Winery, cheese and crackers and presentations by our Resort Activity providers such as Snowmobiling, Snow Shoe Tours, Sleigh Rides, Tube Town, Ski School and lots more...

Friday Dec 17
Sipping the Stars Every Friday Night - Join in a great wine tasting event at the Fireside Lounge in Clementines.  $10 for an hour of tasting some of the Okanagan's finest wines some great education from local experts.

Saturday Dec 18
Quartettoo will perform an evening of youthful music to soothe your soul in the NATC Auditorium. Time TBA

Tuesday Dec 21
Vernon Figure Skating Club will perform choreography to music under the lights on Silver Lake.

Wednesday Dec 22 
In the evening, join the Vernon Community Singers as they work their way around Silver Star Village caroling all the way.  A choir of 80 or more enthusiastic voices ring through crisp winter air sending Christmas cheer to all the people enjoying dinner or relaxing in their hotel rooms.  The caroling starts at 7pm and people are encouraged to join in and follow the choir as they head indoors to the NATC for a free concert starting at 8pm.

Thursday Dec 23
Christmas Snow Show! Vocal Commotion's Diversity!, a women's musical theatre choir, will share the stage with acoustic guitarist/vocalist Shannon Ingersoll.

Friday Dec 24
Santa will be making a special stop at Silver Star early in his travels.  He will be making a grand entrance at the tail end of the Christmas Eve Glo-Stick and Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Show.

Guests are encouraged to gather by the School House at the end of the Village around 4:15pm to take in the spectacular display as a hundred flares weave their way down Milky Way.  Or if you want to participate in the torchlight, guests can pay $5 and sign up at the Info Desk before 12pm on Dec. 24th.  Watch for Santa’s grand entrance then move indoors, caroling all the way, and wait for Santa to start handing out the gifts.  

Parents of Children aged 2-12 are invited to participate in the Santa’s gift giving at the Chilcoot Conference Centre.  Each child registered will receive a special wrapped gift from Santa Claus during the gift giving ceremony Christmas Eve. Guests should register for the Santa gift giving or Torchlight Parade at the Information Desk located in the village prior to 12pm on Christmas Eve.

At 8 pm, a Christmas Eve Family Service of carols and worship will be held in the NATC Auditorium.

Saturday Dec 25
Watch for last minute Santa sightings and hit the slopes to enjoy those new skis.  More great menu options abound at the Resort restaurants.

Sunday Dec 26 – Thursday Dec 30
Lot’s more fun and games to go along with the great skiing and boarding on the slopes.  Watch for on hill demos from Burton, Salomon, Ride and many more.

Monday Dec 27
The Zirka Ukrainian Dancers will be performing in the NATC Auditorium. Time TBA

Tuesday Dec 28 - Thursday Dec 30
The Banff Film Festival-a celebration of fantastic outdoor and mountain films shown in the NATC Auditorium.

Friday Dec 31
Ready to ring in another New Year!?!  Be slopeside at the end of the Village no later than 8:30pm to get a good spot to take in the Glo-Stick and Torchlight Parade.  Enjoy the spectacular sight as more than 100 flares light up the face of the mountain and seem to dance to the music.  As all the flares are extinguished the sky lights up with an awesome Fireworks Show that you will remember forever. Note: Night skiing will conclude at 7.30pm on New Years Eve due to the torchlight parade.

There are special dinners, a party in the Saloon and even a black and white affair so contact the Resort early to get your tickets to one of these great events.
