Our Story

From its beginnings as a local ski hill back in 1958, SilverStar Mountain Resort has evolved into a world class winter holiday destination. Renowned for amazing, light dry snow and crowned as one of Canada's favorite family resorts, guests visiting from around the world continue to experience the charm of its colorful mid-mountain village. In fact, the village architecture splashed with vibrant colors is one of the first things you will notice and remember about SilverStar.

Themed after an early 1900's mining town, the bars, restaurants and shops that line the charming main street is where you will find long-time residents and local characters that help give SilverStar its safe, “homey”, community feel. Just ask, and you'll find these same locals are willing to share their secrets that have kept them calling SilverStar home for so long.

And that’s what makes SilverStar so special – a big mountain, a small town feel, with all the terrain you’d expect at a larger resort, without the crowds. All with true mid-mountain ski-in, ski-out access.

Located high above British Columbia's Okanagan Valley and a hour’s drive north from the Kelowna International Airport, SilverStar is a haven for skiers and snowboarders looking for a big mountain experience away from the line-ups. With 3,282 acres of skiable terrain and 131 runs spread across four mountain faces, the variety of terrain is second to none. Long, perfectly groomed cruisers, steep powder filled chutes, long winch-cat black diamond runs, glades, back-country, Terrain Park and more combine to keep all levels of skiers and boarders entertained.

SilverStar is a popular destination for families seeking a true Canadian winter experience, whether it’s discovering winter for the first time, or reacquainting with fond childhood memories. Home to Canada’s first all-inclusive lift ticket and season pass, families are able to enjoy a wide variety of activities all included in their My1Pass alpine day lift ticket or season pass.

Enjoy breathtaking views and unlimited access to 55km of groomed, world-class Nordic trails.

Explore a magical 16 km network of dedicated snowshoe trails through forests of giant Christmas trees.

Play ice hockey or enjoy a romantic lap on a frozen mountain pond.

And laugh out loud over and over with your friends and family as you speed downhill on tubes at Tube Town Adventure Park.

And when your legs give out, discover the true joy of being in a mid-mountain village – ski out your door in the morning, and ski right back to your lodging at night.

After the kids have ripped up the mountain during the day, they can enjoy the challenge of indoor climbing at the National Altitude Training Centre, family night at Tube Town or a friendly game at Pinheads Bowling Alley. In addition, there are a host of free activities like arts and crafts nights or story time by the bonfire in the heart of the village.

Food and wine lovers will delight in SilverStar’s impressive lineup of dining options. Visit the Den for après ski and mouth-watering food or enjoy the best nightlife on the mountain at the Saloon. For the more discernible tastes, head to the Silver Grill for fine dining and great Okanagan wines. For the more adventurous, the resort features a number of specialty dining experiences including a snow cat ride under the stars to Paradise Camp or a snowshoe dinner tour to The Wild Horseman's Cabin.

One visit to SilverStar and you'll understand why so many people love to call it 'my mountain'.
