The long search for a new Snowsport School director at Silver Star has resulted in a popular, and certainly familiar face.
Norm Kreutz, who left the job following the conclusion of the 2007/08 season, has been named the new director of the Snowsport School.
"The more things change the more they remain the same," chuckled Kreutz, who has more than 30 years teaching experience and is considered by industry experts to be one of the best instructors in Canada. "I used the summer to gauge my options and try a new venture, but found my heart is with the Snowsport School."
While the resort did look for a replacement in Kreutz's absence, once he expressed an interest in returning, the decision became obvious, said Michael Sherwood, general manager of Silver Star Mountain Resort.
"Norm is so well respected within the industry that we knew replacing him would be a huge task," noted Sherwood. "Thankfully Norm took care of that problem for us. We respected and supported his decision to leave and told him there would always be a spot for him at Silver Star if he decided to come back in some capacity. We are thrilled he's going to be leading the Snowsport School once again."
Kreutz will return to his post at the beginning of October and said he looks forward to meeting the challenges of the 2008/09 season.
Silver Star will once again host the President’s Choice K2 Canadian Championships in late March, where the best 13 and 14-year-old skiers will compete for national titles in slalom, giant slalom and downhill. |
